OUR ACCOMMODATION IS ON THE SPECTACULAR NORTH COAST OF CORNWALL, IN THE LOVELY UNSPOILT VILLAGE OF ST AGNES. We offer Half Board or B&B accommodation and during 2010, our "fully inclusive" week long walking holidays (some people actually come for two weeks) will range from £505 per person (B&B) to £770 per person (luxury hotel, with dinner, bed and breakfast) - but are typically more like £650 in high summer for a very good quality hotel. You can choose to stay in a private cottage or modern village home B&B with a family, when the rates vary from £505 to £630 per week, which obviously includes the walking holiday as well... Whatever your choice, you will find yourself a short walk from splendid cliffs and beaches and the charming North coast village of St Agnes. This is the fictional village of 'St Annes' which Winston Graham wrote about in the popular "POLDARK" novels and T.V.series and is situated some 8 miles west of Cornwall's charming cathedral city of Truro, where the trains from London arrive. As usual, you have a choice of accommodation and individual descriptions follow. Cleaderscroft Hotel http://www.cchotel.fsnet.co.uk/A warm and friendly welcome awaits all visitors to The Cleaderscroft Hotel, which was reopened in the summer of 1995 following extensive renovations - well received by the many guests who have been tempted to stop and enter since. Once the family home of the locally renowned Hancock family, Cleaderscroft was originally known as "Coulterville", after George Coulter Hancock - one of the largest landowners in St Agnes during the latter part of the last century. The Beacon Country House Hotel http://www.beaconhotel.co.uk/ Although a little more expensive, The Beacon Hotel does not always charge a single room supplement to our guests. This is a licensed 2 star private hotel, situated on the southerly slopes of St Agnes Beacon, just outside the village of St Agnes. It stands in extensive grounds of 2 acres and enjoys one of the more spectacular vistas in the area. St Agnes Hotel, Churchtown http://www.st-agnes-hotel.co.uk Providing for travelers since the 1780's, St Agnes Hotel lies in the heart of the village, right opposite the parish church, with it's fine spire. Under new ownership since Sept 2009, Bill and Di will welcome you to their hostelry. On the ground floor is a traditional and popular village pub and a lovely restaurant - and upstairs, on two floors are six guest rooms. Meals may be taken at the bar or in the restaurant. Rosemundy House Hotel http://www.rosemundy.co.uk/ This hotel is the largest around St Agnes and is situated close to the village centre, yet within a quiet and wooded valley with lovely gardens. It has a heated swimming pool too. Sometimes (but not always), larger groups stay here, so if you like to have people around you and enjoy good buffet dinners, this may be a good option! Aramay Boutique B&B http://www.thearamay.com/ 4 stars. For a little more class and style, situated in a quiet location close to the village centre, yet within easy walking distance of the beach, Aramay has five guest rooms, each with flat screen television, tea and coffee making facilities in each room and Wi-fi freely available. Fine cooked breakfasts and friendly owners. See what Trip Advisor says: http://tinyurl.com/yeurfqs The Malthouse B&B, Peterville http://www.themalthousestagnes.co.uk/ This friendly and slightly funky B&B is sitauted right in the heart of the village and is very close to several good eating places. It's owner Diana Bushe welcomes her guests as part of the family. One room is en-suite and the others share a communal bathroom. Sometimes, it's possible to have dinner with Di's family in an informal setting. Become a part (if just for a week!) of a well known and popular family. Trevaunance Cottage B&B http://www.trevaunancecottage.co.uk/ If you would like to stay with a friendly local family in a typical cottage style B&B, then Trevaunance Cottage is in a lovely quiet location, just 5 mintutes walk from the beach at Trevaunance Cove. There are several good pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance + a traditional fish and chip shop. There are two large rooms, both with en-suite facilities (with bath not shower). One room is a twin bed room and the other is a double. There is also a single available with the twin room, for anyone who brings a friend or child (shared bathroom). Kimberley B&B http://www.kimberleybedandbreakfast.co.uk Kimberley is a newly built home, located to the west of the beautiful village of St Agnes. It is situated 400m from the local shops and the coastal path around Cornwall, and only 500 m from St Agnes main beach at Trevaunance Cove. It is also only about 1 mile from the top of the promiment St Agnes Beacon. Kimberley offers 4 spacious double bedrooms, one with an en-suite and the others each having their own private bathrooms opposite the room. One room is a twin. Neil and Sue will make you very welcome in their lovely modern home. Atlantic Mews B&B http://www.stagnesholidays.co.uk/Index-3.html Carol and Tony will look after you in their lovely modern home and offer 2 very well appointed and modern double rooms. These may be had with a single supplement too. Quiet location about 10 mins walk from centre of village. If you take the B&B option at any of the above, you would obviously need to go out each evening to a local pub or restaurant for a meal. However, this option can be considerably cheaper if you only take small evening meals. There are several very good options in St Agnes, including good restaurants, a traditional fish and chip shop, several fine pubs and a tapas bar. We know that the place you stay in during a walking holiday - and the welcome and cuisine you receive there is almost as important as the walking itself. Consequently, we are very careful to have as our partners, places that truly complement our local knowledge and guiding services! We know that wherever you choose to stay, you'll be very well looked after. Indeed, amongst the many properties owned by GCH, was St Agnes Beacon itself! Coulterville became home to his eight children and one of his sons, “GCH the second”, started a family law tradition and became, for a period, the Official Receiver for Cornwall.
The panorama encompasses a wide sweep of countryside, from St Austell and Bodmin Moors in the east, to the blue waters of the Atlantic, past Godrevy Lighthouse to St Ives in the west, some 13 miles distant - "as the crow flies."
