Patagonia

PatagoniaPatagonia Trekking and Sightseeing Tour. 21 day tour of Patagonia; in Argentina and Chile.

2017 Cancelled.

There is nowhere quite like Patagonia; it is romantic, unpredictable, adventurous, fascinating, windy and, above all, dramatic!

We will see a mosaic of landforms – huge granite peaks, basaltic massifs, turquoise glacial lakes, rugged ice fields, deserts, steppe like plains, vast pampas grass lands, volcanoes, canyons and caves.

There is an abundant and diverse array of wildlife to match the patchwork of the land. Among the birds are herons, predators such as the shielded eagle, condor, sparrow hawk, beetle eater (chimango) and the almost extinct thea – similar to an ostrich but with three toes instead of two. As well as seeing the thea, we may well see armadillos, mountain cats and pumas and the guanaco, a camelid. Sea life includes, Magellanic and other breeds of penguin, southern elephant seal, orca and southern Right whale.

Patagonia is located at the southern end of South America; it is a sparsely populated region shared by Argentina and Chile.

January is mid summer in the southern hemisphere - giving possibly the best weather. However, we should always be prepared for cold or intemperate weather; during one day we may experience sun, rain and extreme wind!

Our tour starts in the beautiful city of San Carlos de Bariloche situated in the stunning Andean Lake District, surrounded by mountains and lakes. This area of outstanding natural beauty in northern Patagonia is the perfect place to start our walking holiday.
